Claudia Horta graduated from the School of Culinary Art School, was certified by the Regulatory Council of the DOCa of Rioja Sommelier Advanced Level and obtained a new certification of the London WSET Level 2, in progress for the Level 3 WSET certification exam.
She lives in Tijuana and owns the Casta de Vinos Boutique Winery in Valle de Guadalupe. Together with her husband, winemaker Sergio Castañeda Piña, she has obtained 46 Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in international competitions, such as Bacchus in Spain, IWSC in England, CINVE Spain, Challenge International Du Vin in France, Concours Mondial de Bruxelles in Bruxelles , Wine and Women in Spain.
She is also a philanthropist who supports women with breast cancer in their recovery and reconstruction process since 2015, raising funds through a wine developed for this cause, Pitaya.
